27lb Catfish for Will

Will Winkles Out a Whopper!!!

16 year old Will Waterton of QES, here at Glehias for the week with his family – dad Mark, mum Claire and sister Nina from Lancaster – managed to bag himself a rather large Catfish this morning. Large enough to break the current ‘Juniors Lake Record Catfish’ at least!!

Will hooked into the monster moggy weighing 27lb 1oz under the overhanging foliage in the deeper end of the Gorse bank at 4:40am on Friday 27th July; a Quest Bait’s LiverB8 boilie tipped with a white pop-up was just too tempting for the big Cat!!

Just 5 minutes after the record breaking Catfish run, Dad Mark’s rod also tore off which resulted in him landing a nice 26lb15oz Mirror, this time taken on a Quest LiverB8 boilie but tipped with a pink pop-up. So far this week Will is beating his dad 6 to 5 on the number of fish caught and is also beating him by a few pounds in the heaviest fish caught – a lovely 35lb 8oz Mirror.

Well done Will, you showed the big boys how it’s done!!!
