A Spring Week on Molyneux Carp Lake

Molyneux has seen some fantastic fish on the bank and some very happy anglers over the last two weeks. See the full report from bailiff Wally below…

A short while after our first group had left Molyneux, the latest anglers arrived at the lake. The group feel like old friends having visited us a number of times – Barry, Chris, Jamie, Nathan, Jason, Damien, Paul and Evan… We caught up over a cup of tea, and wandered round to let the lads see the lake…..

The draw was a surprise as Barry who is normally last out came out first for a change. He chose Jacks swim, Jamie chose Social 1, Chris in Social 2, Jason in Stones, Nathan in Barn, and Damien in Double. Paul chose Boat swim, and Evan chose Cabin swim…….

First day or two the weather was wet and windy, and despite the lads best efforts the fish were otherwise occupied. Monday morning and Barry was first off the mark with a 24lb 4oz common. At 7.30am Chris in Social 2 landed a 31lb mirror.

The next morning and it was Jamie’s turn… He managed to bank a mirror of 32lb 2oz.

Wednesday was much milder and the fish were visibly more active all around the lake. Chris kicked the action off with a 36lb 1oz mirror at 7.30am. At 9am Jason in Stones landed a 38lb 1oz mirror. At 2.30pm Nathan had a belting run completely out of the blue resulting in a 39lb mirror.

The following day at 4.30am Nathan was in again, a 29lb mirror falling victim to his rigs, 7am saw Chris land a 26lb common, at 8am Barry landed a common of 24lb 7oz. Jamie followed this a short while later with a 35lb 10oz mirror. At 9.30pm Damien in Double caught his first of the week with a 30lb mirror.

Friday and 5am Chris was out doing battle once again, this time landing a 35lb 14oz mirror, at 9am Nathan in Barn landed a 35lb 13oz mirror.

These were to be the final fish of the week, sadly for Paul and Evan in Boat and Cabin respectively, it seemed the fish simply didn’t visit their spots…..

A decent week for the guys in not the best of weather, nice to see them all again as always, a pleasure spending time with them.
