April Updates from Molyneux

We have rounded up the news from the last couple of weeks from Molyneux

David Tucker and his son tell us what is was like fishing at Molyneux from 9th to 16th April.

We fished to the island using Wally’s pellets, particle and hemp as well as Rod Hutchinson giant corn tipped with plastic corn. Caught on Wally’s krill boilies and mainline pink pop ups. In total, we caught 46 fish including 12 forties with the biggest at 48lb6, 16 thirties up to 38lb6, 11 twenties up to 29lb14.

We were greeted by Wally with the custom cup of tea, then shown around and advised to go in double swim. Our hope and target was a forty pound fish, which neither of us had previously achieved. With temperatures of -2°C on our first night we expected a slow start to the week. However, by morning, with ice all over our rods, we had caught 7 fish with 3 over 40lb. To say we were blown away was an understatement!

By Wednesday my son had caught 5 forties to which Wally told us no one had ever caught 6. So, like any dad, I was really hoping he would get another! With an hour to go before we packed up, he was into another decent catch, tipping the scales at 44lb05. The perfect end to a week and way beyond our wildest dreams!

The facilities were better than expected. The showers were lovely and clean and there were plenty of charging points and fridge freezer space. We would most definitely recommend the venue! We watched Wally and Helen work tirelessly to keep this beautiful lake in its best possible condition, a fact they should be extremely proud of. We will return!

Lake Record grass carp and a cracking week for the Jolly Carpers from 16th to 23rd April.

47lb

The weather was warm and sunny all week. We did really well with 52 fish in total with 20 thirties, 13 forties including a good number of mid forty commons, a 51lb grass carp, and cats to 108lb.

Most of us caught forties. A few were lucky enough to catch more than one. One or two big cats were landed as well, including a 108lb Beast which was as long as Jay that caught it. Jay also caught a number of big carp including a new lake record grass carp at 51lb.

All in all a very good week!

Molyneux is a beautifully mature tree-lined lake of 13 acres situated in the heart of the Eure Valley. It’s very easy to reach being only a 2.45 hr drive from Calais and 1½ hrs from Le Harve. It nestles in stunning countryside far from light and noise pollution. The loudest noise being the birdsong that provides a peaceful backdrop to the fantastic carp fishing on offer. The lake boasts 10 swims for a maximum of 8 anglers. The head of 30lb+ carp in the lake is very good indeed and you can expect roughly 1 in every 2 carp caught to be over 30lb.

If you’re looking for more comfort than a bivvy there’s a lovely pine lakeside cabin which sleeps 4 and has its own swim – the ‘Cabin Swim’ – directly in front.

There are still some availabilities this season! Find out more about Molyneux here
