Sometimes it’s nice not to be bothered by other anglers. We get it. Here are nine of our small exclusive carp lakes in France that are perfect for just 2 or 3 anglers to share exclusively;
1. Kingfisher Lake
Kingfisher lake offers exclusive use of the 2.1 acre spring-fed lake and a modern well-equipped lakeside cottage. The venue is ideal for small groups of anglers that want a relaxing holiday with excellent fishing right on the doorstep. There are a wide range of carp from singles to 40lb+, with a small stock of other coarse fish too – perch, roach, pike and zander.
The comfortable two bedroom accommodation has all the mod cons you would expect, providing excellent facilities even if you choose to bivvy out. After a days fishing you can dine inside or outside on the deck, which sits only a few metres from the lake.
“A lovely couple, received a welcome hamper on arrival which is a lovely gesture. Were there if you need them but they left you to do your own thing. Well equipped facilities, lake and grounds very clean. Over 20 carp between 2 anglers. Perfect, would definitely come again.” – Darren Oxborough

2. Notaires“>Notaires
Set in its own 75 acre estate and accessible only by a private road, Notaires is perfect for 1 to 3 anglers (4 at a push) who want a small lake exclusive to themselves with hard fighting carp, good facilities and an excellent food package available.
The largest carp in this lake are now over 50lb and there are plenty of them. As well as the carp, each lake also has a medium-sized catfish to do the lake housekeeping. The carp are triploid which means that they do not breed, so fishing time isn’t lost in spawning, plus they grow faster. Another positive factor is the consequent absence of small carp.
“Fantastic venue, a little gem. Would like to keep it a secret from everyone else lol. Chris & Steph are fantastic hosts. 65 carp between 3 anglers.” – David Grist

3. Jonchery 7″>Jonchery 7
This 5 acre lake is incredibly peaceful, set close to the dam wall of the Lac d’Orient. You have one large grassy swim which has good vehicle access. You’ll have complete use of the lake to yourselves but you share the facilities – kitchen, dining area, shower & toilets – with the other lake on the complex, Jonchery. There’s also a great optional food package available. This venue is ideal for 2 anglers but can fit 3 at a push.
There around 170 carp, at least 30 of which are between 33lb and 50lb. What’s more, because the owners are fish farmers, the carp have been hand-picked and some of the scale patterns on the mirrors together with some beautiful linears, makes for memorable fishing.
“We had 53 carp in total. Brilliant fishery, brilliant bailiff and family, they cant do enough for you, will always put you on the spots, give you the best advice on rigs and baits. Brilliant venue for runs, some very big lumps to be had if your lucky enough, very peaceful, tranquil and relaxing until your buzzers rip off.” – Ritchie Bywaters

4. Bletiere“>Bletiere
Bletiere is ideal for 2 or 3 anglers, a pretty lake packed full of features and holding around 150 carp to high forties. A good percentage of these weigh in at over 30lb and the majority of the remaining carp are over 25lb.
The stone cottage accommodation is included in the hire of the lake and so provides excellent facilities just across the lawn from the lake. To top it off, the venue offers optional food packages, bait on site and tackle hire too.
“A fantastic venue with some cracking fish, the owner Paul is very knowledgeable and could not do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay, I will definitely be going back.” – Darren Brooks

5. Jonchery #8
Following the success of Jonchery #7 featured above, the Bachelier family set out to create a similar small lake exclusive venue again on the same complex. This time however, they would aim to stock a higher average weight and slightly less carp – the end result being slightly less of a runs water but a big fish water.
This 3 acre lake holds carp to over 60lb and is ideal for up to 3 anglers, all fishing from one very gravelled large swim. On site you will find good facilities, food packages and bait available.

6. Eau De Vie South
A spring fed 2-acre lake, with mature surroundings and a good stock of carp to high forties, Eau De Vie South will suit up to 3 anglers wanting a small lake exclusive with excellent lakeside facilities.

It offers comfortable and simple accommodation sleeping up to four, there’s also a seating area and BBQ with a double swim directly outside and stunning views across the lake. The set up of this venue has made it a favourite for small groups of anglers and also those looking to take non-anglers too. Food packages and bait available on site.
“If you want it all then this is the place, great fish up to and over 50lb, venue quiet and picturesque, accommodation has everything you need. Owners will help you with any of your needs and advice, very warm and friendly, tackle shop on site and highly recommend the food and bait packages. Top venue!!” – Colin Sim

The addition of lakeside mobile home accommodation provides excellent facilities again and you can fish from right outside the door. A couple of wooden cabins dotted at other swims around the lake offer a little more comfort than a bivvy. Food packages are also available.
“This was our second time at this venue. We caught 52lb and 53lb mirrors. Stuart & Marina are great hosts, you could not meet a better couple. All in all it’s a great lake and the the fish are in great condition and we can’t wait to go back again.” – Steven Hook

There are just two islands on this lake, both with a cabin and enough room to comfortably accommodate 2 anglers. Each island is hired out individually and has fishing rights over half the lake.
The venue is very rural, with no sounds of traffic or disturbance. It is situated just a 2hr 45 drive from Calais and 1hr 30 from Le Havre. The total number of carp in the lake is around one hundred and fifty between 15-50lb. There are also around 15 koi carp in the lake, a sturgeon, a few zander, pike and perch too.
“An excellent weeks fishing at a truly beautiful venue. 32 runs in total with 25 fish landed. Bruno is a top bloke. There when you need him but left alone when you don’t, so a perfect host. The lodge was a real luxury and with 3 nights of heavy rain much appreciated. Loads of room and a fridge. Well comfortable.” – Neil Large
